Description

A Test Analyst (sometimes called a QA Analyst or Software Tester) is a professional responsible for ensuring the quality and functionality of software products. Their primary role is to identify and fix any bugs or issues before a product is released to the customer or end-user. Test analysts typically work closely with developers, business analysts, and project managers to ensure that all specifications and requirements are met and that the product works as expected.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Test Planning:

    • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand product requirements and specifications.

    • Design and create detailed test plans and test cases based on project requirements and user stories.

    • Define the testing strategy, including types of tests (e.g., functional, regression, performance, security).

  2. Test Execution:

    • Run manual or automated tests on software applications, ensuring they function as intended.

    • Conduct different types of tests: unit,system integrator, system, acceptance, etc.

    • Perform exploratory testing to uncover potential issues that were not covered in test plans.

    • Defect Identification and Reporting:

      • Identify and document bugs or defects in the software, including steps to reproduce the issue.

      • Work with developers to help diagnose the root cause of defects.

      • Track defects through their lifecycle, from identification to resolution.

    • Test Automation (if applicable):

      • Design and implement automated test scripts using testing tools and frameworks (e.g., Selenium, JUnit, TestNG).

      • Ensure automated tests run as part of continuous integration (CI) pipelines.

    •
