Lab Analyst – Job Description

Overview

A Lab Analyst performs laboratory tests, records and interprets data, and ensures compliance with safety and quality standards. They work in industries such as pharmaceuticals, healthcare, food processing, environmental science, and manufacturingdddddddddddddddddddddd.

Key Responsibilities

• Collect, prepare, and analyze samples (chemical, biological, or physical)

• Perform routine and non-routine laboratory tests

• Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and instruments

• Record test results accurately and maintain detailed documentation

• Interpret data and prepare reports for review

• Ensure compliance with standard operating procedures (SOPs)

• Follow laboratory safety guidelines and maintain a clean work environment

• Assist in method development and validation when required

• Report any deviations, errors, or equipment malfunctions

Required Skills

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

• Attention to detail and accuracy

• Knowledge of laboratory techniques and instruments

• Basic understanding of quality standards (like ISO, GLP, GMP)

• Good documentation and reporting skills

• Ability to work independently and in a team

Educational Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, Microbiology, Biotechnology, or related field

• (Optional) Master’s degree for advanced roles

Experience

• Entry-level: 0–2 years (freshers may be considered)

• Experienced roles: 2+ years in a laboratory setting

Work Environment

• Laboratories in industries such as pharmaceuticals, hospitals, food labs, or research institutions

• May involve handling chemicals, biological samples, or specialized equipment
