Description

Job Description: Test Analyst / Technical Writer

We are seeking a detail-oriented Test Analyst / Technical Writer to ensure software quality and create clear, accurate technical documentation. This hybrid role combines functional testing, defect analysis, test documentation, user guides, and release-related communications.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Technical Communication, English, or a related field.
  • Equivalent professional experience may be considered in place of a degree.
  • Knowledge of software development life cycle (SDLC), software testing life cycle (STLC), and Agile methodologies.

Experience

  • 2–5 years of experience in software testing, quality assurance, business analysis, technical writing, or a related role.
  • Experience creating test plans, test cases, test data, defect reports, and test-summary reports.
  • Experience writing user guides, release notes, system documentation, process documents, and knowledge-base articles.
  • Experience working with Agile/Scrum teams and tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, Confluence, or similar platforms.
  • Experience testing web applications, APIs, databases, or enterprise applications is preferred.
  • Familiarity with manual testing; automation testing exposure is a plus.

Skills

  • Strong understanding of functional, regression, integration, system, user-acceptance, and exploratory testing.
  • Ability to analyze requirements and convert them into clear, complete test scenarios and test cases.
  • Proficiency in documenting defects with reproducible steps, expected results, actual results, and supporting evidence.
  • Excellent technical writing, editing, grammar, and document-organization skills.
  • Familiarity with SQL, REST APIs, JSON, browser developer tools, and test-management tools.
  • Knowledge of test automation tools such as Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, or Postman is preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, problem-solving, and time-management skills.
  • Effective communication and collaboration with developers, product owners, business analysts, and end users.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Review business, functional, and technical requirements to identify test conditions and documentation needs.
  • Develop and execute test plans, test cases, test scripts, and test data for software applications.
  • Perform manual functional, regression, integration, and user-acceptance testing.
  • Log, track, retest, and verify defects; work with development teams to clarify and resolve issues.
  • Prepare test-execution reports, defect metrics, test summaries, and release-readiness documentation.
  • Create and maintain user manuals, system guides, standard operating procedures, FAQs, and release notes.
  • Translate technical and business information into clear documentation for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Maintain traceability between requirements, test cases, defects, and documentation.
  • Participate in sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily stand-ups, and retrospective meetings.
  • Support continuous improvement of QA processes, documentation standards, and knowledge-management practices.

  • ISTQB Certified Tester Foundation Level (CTFL)
  • Certified Software Test Engineer (CSTE)
  • Certified Associate in Software Testing (CAST)
  • Scrum Foundation, Certified ScrumMaster (CSM), or Professional Scrum Master (PSM)
  • Certified Professional Technical Communicator (CPTC)
  • Microsoft Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900) or AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner
  • Postman API Fundamentals Student Expert or equivalent API-testing certification
