UI/UX Developer: Job Description
Location: [On-site / Hybrid / Remote] · Employment type: Full-time · Experience: 3–5+ years
About the role
We're looking for a UI/UX Developer to turn user needs and design concepts into intuitive, accessible, high-performing interfaces. You'll work between design and engineering. You'll shape user experiences through research and prototyping, then build them as production-ready front-end code.
Key responsibilities
- Turn wireframes, mockups and prototypes (Figma, Adobe XD) into responsive, pixel-accurate interfaces.
- Build reusable UI components and help maintain the design system.
- Work with product managers, designers and back-end engineers to define user flows and requirements.
- Run or support user research, usability testing and A/B tests, and turn the results into design improvements.
- Create wireframes, user journeys, information architecture and interactive prototypes.
- Meet accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1 AA) and support all major browsers and devices.
- Improve front-end performance, load times and interaction responsiveness.
- Hold the bar on visual consistency, usability and code quality through reviews and documentation.
- Keep up with UI trends, design patterns and front-end technologies.
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, HCI, Design or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years of experience in UI development and UX design.
- Strong skills in HTML5, CSS3/SCSS and JavaScript/TypeScript.
- Hands-on experience with a modern framework: React, Angular or Vue.
- Skilled in design tools: Figma, Sketch or Adobe XD.
- Solid grasp of UX principles, interaction design, typography, color theory and visual hierarchy.
- Experience with responsive and mobile-first design.
- Working knowledge of accessibility standards and assistive technologies.
- Familiarity with Git, REST APIs and agile workflows.
- A portfolio that shows both design thinking and implemented work.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience with Tailwind CSS, Material UI or other component libraries.
- Knowledge of Storybook, design tokens and design-system governance.
- Exposure to animation libraries such as Framer Motion or GSAP, and to micro-interactions.
- Experience with analytics and research tools such as Hotjar, Amplitude or Maze.
- Basic knowledge of testing frameworks such as Jest, Cypress or Playwright.
- UX certification (NN/g, Google UX, IDF) is a plus.
Soft skills
- Clear communicator who can explain design decisions to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Empathetic, user-focused problem solver.
- Detail-oriented while still seeing the big picture.
- Collaborative, open to feedback and comfortable with changing priorities.
What we offer
- Competitive salary: [range]
- Health, dental and vision benefits
- Flexible work arrangements
- A learning and development budget, and access to conferences
- [Other company-specific perks]
